My Story

My favorite lesbian athiest, Greta Christina, wrote a blog about the need for humans to think of their lives in terms of a narrative. She also lists out a few of her "stories" in life. Read it if you are interested.

This got me to thinking about my stories in life. I think my first would be "Emotionally Super Sensitive". Over time I've noticed that I take things to heart much more often than others. I've learned in my human development classes that some people just have a higher sensory threshold than others and I am definitely one of those people that feel too much and sometimes I wish I could just turn it off!

Next story is a little more selfish and I have to stop myself from thinking it when I realize I'm doing it. Story is, "I just have it figured out, so listen to me!" I have to remind myself that we all have different experiences in life and though I may have figured a few things out in my own life, that doesn't mean that I know what is right for everyone else! Sometimes that is a really hard one for me to comprehend because we counselors, or counselors-to-be... well, we just have all the answers, right?? :)

A more becoming story of mine, "I just want to help and save everyone". It really is how I feel which is why I can lots of times spurt out unsolicited advice. I'm working on it though! It's hard for me to watch people I care about make mistakes and not say anything! My poor family gets earfulls of "Karin Advice" all the time. They just have to deal with it though because we share blood. Just kidding! I'm working on that too.

It's nice to know DIrect TV is so much cheaper. I'm totally the type of person who would not get cable just to save money.... But I heard they're not allowing "bunny ears" and such so I won't get ANY channels =( My husband would kill me. haha We will look into Direct TV =) Thanks spokes lady!
