My Husband, the Animal Protector

So yesterday when Brian walked in the door a little later than normal, he was all flustered and upset about a dog that he found injured and running around our neighborhood. He and a neighbor lady chased the dog down and noticed that the poor thing's front teeth were missing and his mouth was bloody. The neighbor took him to the vet and the vet called the pound where they got in contact with the owner. They must have been happy that he was found beacause they paid for all of the vet expenses, which were not cheap because the doggies mouth needed to be wired shut because of a broken jaw and teeth needed to be reset.

Anyway, Brian is feeling rather good about himself today and I can't blame him! He probably saved this little guy's life and is the cause for reuniting him with his family that will hopefully lock him up better in the future.

Brian brought something up the other day, that I find to be true. He asked me, If I believe that human beings and life itself happened by a complex and accidental mixture of just the right environment and temperatures, then aren't animals lives just as important as our own? To me, the answer is yes! Although, I will still eat them for my own nourishment... I justify that one because animals eat animals too. It's a food chain thing.

Philosophy is kind of fun :) Brian is in a Philosophy 101 class and it's striking up some interesting conversations for us!
