We had our 19 week ultrasound today and baby is very healthy in every way! Unfortunately, baby is also very stubborn... we were really hoping to find out if this little child was a boy or a girl, however, we were unsuccessful! There was one point in the ultrasound that the tech said, "It looks like a little boy" and we did see what she was referring to, but the umbilical cord was also hanging out between the legs, so she didn't want to say for sure if she saw boy parts and then the moment had passed and we never got a clear view again!
In this last picture you can see how the legs are crunched up underneath the baby. This is what made it so difficult for her to tell.
Baby's heartbeat was 161 BPM and baby was measuring in the 59th percentile in size. We may or may not get another chance to find out what we're having before the baby is born. It depends on if the doctor feels there is reason to order another ultrasound at some point. Right now, everything looks good, so maybe not! I guess baby will remain an "It" for a while longer. Sorry folks! Believe me, none of you could be more disappointed than I am at the moment!

I know you are totally disappointed, but even if you have to wait until it's born, you'll know for sure in 4 1/2 months. And now you have a story to tell him/her about how stubborn he/she was! ;)
I think the ultrasound tech could have tried a little harder, though. I mean, you may just be one more person through the door for them, but this was really important to you guys to find out. I hate how all doctors are just so impersonal nowadays. They just herd you in and out like cattle.
Anyways, enough of that rant. I am very happy that you are going to have a precious little healthy baby! :)
Such a bummer! I don't even know what I would do if that were me, I was like I HAVE TO KNOW NOW! I couldn't wait! Hopefully you will get another chance to take a peek. Or maybe you can get some pictures done at one of those places Nina went to.
It's probably hard to see the entire baby in there because you are so dang small it just doesn't have much room to stretch out...honestly though, what are the odds? I was telling Brian that it will make the actual delivery that much more exciting, as if it won't be crazy enough as is. But sometimes surprises are pretty cool, now you will for sure have to have a boy and girl name picked out, and register for all gender neutral stuff! :) I'm so glad that at least the baby's healthy.
Oh my gosh!!! haha! I was going to ask you on Facebook and figured I'd get the whole story from your blog.... dang!! Guess we will have to get you neutral stuff like Jacque =p Well, now you'll have a big surprise to look forward too! Besides having a new life of course =p
