Inspired!

I'm about a month and a half into my 6-month internship here in the HR Department. I've been learning a LOT and reading a TON of books. I've pretty much got my own little library started over here at my desk! Sitting and reading hasn't always been something that I've enjoyed, but it could be because I was just choosing the wrong reading material. There are several books that I've read recently that are truly inspiring to me and I'd like to share what they are!

Go Put Your Strengths to Work, by Marcus Buckingham
You Don't Need A Title to Be a Leader, by Mark Sanborn

And a book that I JUST started that I really think I'm going to enjoy is, Inspiration at Work, by Robert A. Ruotolo. Here is a little snippet from this book that I just read and "inspired" me to make this post :)

Children Learn What They Live
If a child lives with criticism,
He learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
She learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
He learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
She learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
He learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
She learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
He learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
She learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
He learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
She learns to like herself.
If children live with acceptance and friendship,
They learn to find love in the world.
As a new parent, I think I'm going to type this up, frame it and hang it on my wall to remind myself that I am one of the main influences in my child's life and his mental wellbeing relies heavily on me! Scary :)
