23 Week Appointment

Baby's heartbeat was at 160 BPM and Mama now weighs 126 pounds. I was told that I could definitely eat more if I want and once Brian hears this news, I have a feeling I'm going to have some food shoved down my throat. He was not able to make today's appointment because his work schedule just changed and his new days off are Weds and Thurs. Luckily it was just a short appointment today, but get this... we ARE going to get another ultrasound next month! If only I had been patient, we could have saved $80! Oh well, I'm definitely not the "spender" of the family, so I guess this one can slide. I do have the dreaded Glucose Test to do before my next appointment on August 13th, so wish me luck! I'll be thinking happy thoughts. If I can't make it through this, then I don't know how I expect to make it through the delivery, so I must be strong! haha. And Brian will be there to hold my hand and make fun of me for being a wuss.

Don't worry, fan base... I will have another belly shot posted at 25 weeks!

:) The glucose test is really not that bad...it just tastes like one of those orange sodas. And you know I hate soda, so if I can do it, then so can you! And they only draw your blood once at the end, so it's not much worse than the normal blood-draw. Just look away and distract yourself by talking to the person drawing the blood. They are usually good about trying to hold a conversation. Those people are so good at what they do, I hardly ever even notice the little pinch at the beginning.

Oh I have such a funny story about that. When I had my glucose test with Logan I was standing in line to get my 'orange soda' while eating my healthy apple. When it was my turn I went to the counter, set down my food and got out my insurance card. The technician was all irritated and said, you weren't just eating were you? I replied...Uhh, no? She told me I would throw off all my results if I had food within some crazy number of hours of the test. Hello, when I was pregnant I was hungry ALL the time, what did she expect. I told her to give me the test anyway and I'm pretty sure it turned out just fine. No gestational diabetes for me :) You'll be totally fine, the stuff doesn't taste too horrid, it's just boring to sit there for an hour afterwards so bring something to occupy you!

Ah! Good luck!!! Ya, I guess if anything could make you not be afraid of needles, it'd be having a baby! LOL I need to look in to that..... Holding your hand in spirit!!!

Hah I failed my test with Nola but not with Lucy. And with Nola it was still in the normal limit, just the higher normal limit. They wanted me to do some crazy all day test but I politely (hah) declined. I obviously didn't have gestational diabetes!

Make sure Brian understands that its you who needs to eat more. Its a common misconception with Cobabe boys that you needing to eat more means "we" need to eat more. And Brian looks like he's about one cheeseburger away from turning into the Hulk! "Me getting angry!"

Oh and it does wonders for my self esteem to know that 5 months post baby I weigh as much as someone who is 5 months pregnant! So I thank you for that!

It's so funny that everyone has stories about this glucose test! I'll be sure to not bring any apples or gum with me, haha.

PS, Jeanette - all your weight is in your boobs! I'll trade ya. lol.

What?! You can't eat before your glucose test?!?! I've had it done twice now and never knew that! I ate like half a watermelon this last time before I went, and I'm sure that has lots of sugar. I still passed anyways. Ha!
